How Loaded Dice works for coaches and spectators — sign-in, the live draft clock, Discord pings, and what Super Admins can override. Tip the odds in your draft.
Getting Started
Sign in with Discord, join a league or draft room, and set up the team other coaches will see.
- Go to Sign In on the landing page.
- Choose Continue with Discord and approve the app.
- You land on the Dashboard. Email/password and magic link also work if your commissioner prefers them.
Join a league or draft room
- Invite link: open the URL your commissioner sent (it includes ?joinCode=…). Confirm Join on the league page.
- Join code: paste the code on a private league gate, or use Discord /link-coach with the same code after you have a web account.
- Public leagues: browse Explore, open a live league to watch the Draft Board as a spectator, or join if the league is still accepting members.
Set up your team
Coaches complete Team Setup once: a display name and a Showdown username. That name and tag appear on the draft board, schedule, and standings.
If you skip this, league pages will send you back to setup until both fields are filled. You can change branding later from Admin (commissioner) or by asking them to update Members & Roster.
Draft Rules & Mechanics
How the shared clock works, snake vs linear order, queues, and how a pick actually locks.
One clock, every screen
The live draft is a single clock on Loaded Dice (loaded-dice.xyz). A pick from the Draft Board or from Discord /pick writes the same roster row, advances the same on-clock team, and refreshes every open board without a reload.
Open Draft Board in the league nav. You will see the round, pick number, who is on the clock, remaining pool, and each team’s roster. Spectators see the same ticker but cannot submit picks.
Turn order: snake vs linear
Snake (default): round 1 goes 1→N, round 2 goes N→1, and so on. Linear: every round stays 1→N. Commissioners set this when they configure the draft.
Teams that have already filled their roster (or cannot afford any remaining mon) are skipped so the draft can finish instead of looping.
The pick clock
Standard Live is 4 hours per pick. Async Slow Draft gives round 1 eight hours, then 4 hours. Speed Draft is 3 minutes. Commissioners can set custom hours/minutes per round.
Optional overnight pause (default 23:00–08:00 in the league timezone) does not consume timer hours. If a pick would expire at freeze time, autodraft still runs at the freeze instead of waiting until morning.
Queueing picks
Open Queue (coaches only) and add legal targets from the remaining pool. Drag the grip or use arrows — #1 is the next auto-pick if it is still legal when your clock expires.
In a flex-budget league the header shows remaining points and a budget-after-#1 preview. Unaffordable or already-taken species are skipped. Changes save immediately; you do not need to stay on the page.
Pick resolution
A pick is legal only if the species is in the league sheet, not banned, not already drafted, under roster max, and (flex leagues) within remaining points.
On timer expiry the engine walks your queue in order and locks the first legal species. Illegal entries are skipped. Discord embeds announce autodrafts the same as a manual pick.
Discord Integration
Link your account, get on-the-clock pings, and follow the same draft from the server channel.
Account linking
- Sign in on the web with Discord (Getting Started).
- Copy the league join code from the invite or Admin.
- In the league’s Discord server run /link-coach and paste the code.
Turn reminders
When you are on the clock, you get a mention in the linked draft channel (`<@user>`). Starting the draft pings the first coach. Each later pick pings whoever is next.
If you are not linked, the embed still posts but cannot mention you. The web clock is unchanged.
Community draft notifications
Commissioners (or server managers) run /draft-setup on a text or announcement channel, or paste the channel ID on Admin → Settings. Start embeds and pick embeds (sprite, cost, remaining budget, roster count) post there.
`/pick <species>` (autocomplete) locks a pick while you are on the clock. Invalid, banned, taken, or over-budget species are rejected the same way as a web pick.
Super Admin Controls
Bots can only be configured and added by Super Admins. These are not coach or commissioner tools.
Super Admin only
What coaches should know
If a Super Admin has placed a bot team in a test league, it appears on the board like any other coach. You cannot add, configure, or remove it.
League commissioners still start, pause, and set pick order from Admin → Draft Room Controls. That is separate from Super Admin simulation tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
Timer expiry, autodraft, disconnects, and other common snags.
The timer ran out. Did I miss my pick?
The engine autodrafts immediately from your saved Queue (first legal species). If the queue is empty or every entry is illegal, your team is marked done so the draft can continue. Check Discord or the board — the autodraft is announced like any other pick.
How do auto-picking rules work?
Queue order wins. Each entry is skipped if it is already drafted, banned, over roster max, or over the flex budget. Turning off the browser “Auto-Draft on Timer Expiry” reminder does not disable the server queue.
I disconnected mid-draft. Did I lose my turn?
No. The clock lives on the server. Reopen the Draft Board or pick from Discord /pick if you are on the clock. Your queue still autodrafts if the timer expires while you are offline.
Web and Discord both tried to pick. Who wins?
Both hit the same executePick engine. The first legal insert wins; the unique (league, species) constraint rejects a double pick. The other client gets an error that the mon is taken.
I can’t join a league.
Confirm you are signed in, the league is accepting members, and the join code matches (commissioners can regenerate it). Private leagues are invite-only. Public leagues on Explore are watchable as a spectator even if you are not a member.
Why can’t I click picks on the board?
You must be the on-clock coach (or a commissioner/mod making an allowed admin pick). Spectators and other coaches see SPECTATING / waiting UI. The pool stays locked until a commissioner uploads a points CSV.
Can I add bots or reset the draft?
No. Bots can only be configured and added by Super Admins, from the Super Admin menus in the main app. League commissioners start, pause, and order their own draft from Admin → Draft Room Controls. See Super Admin Controls above.
